It is snow and snow on a February morning at Tea at Tympani Lane Records. I am about to launch over 12 new books of
poetry at Amazon Stations. They were written over the past 5 years and are art nouveau from The New Age Renaissance

I have been looking for a bed for a few years. I like antiques, box beds, sleigh beds (with the header and footer the same) and big trestle beds. I had a few near misses on the Kijiji and Craigslist channels. One day as I was searching the Internet I found an article on making furniture from pallettes. Pallettes are the wooden bases that are used in hardware stores or supply stores for stocking cans of paint and other supplies, that are moved by forklifts. They are made of rough wood and very sturdy. Down at the local hardware store they have some for free and some for $5 a piece. I picked up 4 42" x 42" palettes for my 54" x 74" Full size mattress for free and the cost of delivery ($10). The wood is ½" thick and rough. I sanded it down as much as I could, and then painted it with acrylic white paint whitewash. The wash was created by watering down the paint, ½ water to ½ paint in a plastic bin. You could use any colour. After brushing a section with the paint wash, I wiped it down with a cloth. It leaves a nice finish that shows the lines in the wood. It evens out the colour and looks distressed, you don't notice the rough patches that were too rough to sand properly. Because the wood pieces are the same size, it looks rather elegant, great for an Artist's loft and a great bargain, rather than spending a lot of monies on modern furniture that you may not even like. I just placed them on the floor in a square, you don't even need to ratchet them together. These pallettes can also be used to make other pieces of furniture. A great money saver, a good recycle and good design. The Way of Peace.
P.S.: I had some problem with bugs with these after awhile. It may help if the pallettes are new and if you seal the wood with varathane.
