Book Review for Images from Declassified Nuclear Test Films:

Subterranean Blue Poetry

Volume II Issue XI

May 28-October 7, 1957,
Operation Plumbbob

It was a bubble,
soap from a plastic garden loop,
between the camera
and the sun.

Remember the day.
She was eleven. All of eleven.
Suffering behind her, ahead.

Grass, yes,
but the sensor didn't
catch it.

Joy and dish gloves -
merciful lemon cake,

candle enough for
every when and every one
in the wind of its matter.

Star Fish Prime

Burning birch -
that shape,
canopy of fire.

Sap smoke,
Anchor of the trunk
more membrane of flame
than memory of
wood, water.

More energy
in that burn
north of Temiscamingue

than in this megaton
